SUMMARY:Data on Draft: Brewing an AI-Ready Workforce in Michigan
DESCRIPTION:AI is here. Michigan is not ready. Let’s help change that. \nRSVP Here \nJoin Democracy Brewing Community at Silver Harbor Brewing for a candid\, action-focused conversation about how AI is already changing work\, hiring\, management\, and the future of Michigan’s workforce. \nThis is an issues conversation\, not a candidate event — built for community members who want a serious\, accessible\, real-world discussion about what is happening now and what should happen next. \nWhy this event matters \nAI is no longer abstract. Companies are already cutting jobs\, narrowing hiring\, and redesigning work around automation and AI tools. \nMichigan’s own AI and the Workforce Plan says that as many as 2.8 million Michigan jobs could be reshaped in the next 5 to 10 years\, and that 75% of manufacturing roles will need upskilling. \nBut while the state’s plan is substantive and serious\, it is still a readiness plan\, not a worker-protection plan. It does not stop employers from using AI to cut headcount\, require redeployment before layoffs\, or tie state AI-adoption dollars to keeping workers on payroll. \nThat gap is exactly the kind of issue Democracy Brewing exists to drag into the open and confront. \nWhat to expect \n• A plain-language breakdown of the three broad types of AI — narrow\, general\, and super — and what Michigan’s state plan does and does not do for workers \n• A panel of local business leaders from small\, mid-size\, and large organizations talking honestly about how AI is already showing up inside their workplaces \n• An open community conversation where everyone has the chance to ask questions and contribute \n• A written public work product capturing what panelists and community members say\, which will be sent to Michigan state representatives\, the Governor’s office\, and members of Congress so our community’s voice lands in Lansing and Washington \nWho should come \n• Workers wondering how AI may affect their job or industry \n• Business owners and managers trying to understand what AI means for operations\, staffing\, and competitiveness \n• Students and young professionals deciding what skills to build now \n• Community members who want a practical and honest conversation about work\, technology\, and power \nWhat this is not \nThis is not a hype session.\nThis is not a doom session.\nThis is not a technical lecture. \nIt is a grounded conversation about jobs\, technology\, power\, and the future of work in Michigan. \nCome hear what local leaders are seeing inside their organizations\, bring your own questions\, and help shape a public response rooted in the real experience of working people. \nShow up. Be heard. Change Things.

SUMMARY:People-Powered Happy Hour with Diop Harris
DESCRIPTION:Overview\nMichigan’s 4th District needs a listener in Washington—let’s decide if that’s Diop Harris. \n\n\nJoin Democracy Brewing at The Livery for an unfiltered\, in-person conversation with congressional hopeful Diop Harris. Ask what matters to you\, share what keeps you up at night\, and hear how he’ll fight for Southwest Michigan if elected. \nWhy this event matters\n\nNo speeches\, no scripts. Democracy Brewing events skip stump-style monologues so voters can drive the dialogue and see through the politics part of the candidate.\nAccountability on tap. Direct Q&A lets neighbors test ideas\, challenge assumptions\, and shape the agenda before Election Day.\nCommunity over partisanship. A relaxed brewery setting lowers the temperature and raises the opportunities for the community to have a voice and be heard.\n\nWhat to expect\n• 5-minute intro from the host\, then we dive straight into your questions\n• Written cards & live-mic queries (preferred)\n• ~60 minutes of open conversation\, followed by informal mingling for one-on-one converdations with Diop and his potential supporters and constituents \nWho should come\n\nVoters comparing candidates before the primary or general\nAnyone who wants a representative who will represent them and not special interests\nCommunity members hungry for straight talk\, not talking points and political BS.\n\nWhat this is not\n\nA rally or fundraising pitch\nA debate with podiums and sound-bite zingers\nA partisan echo chamber\n\nShow up.
